The Coloured Bee Case Study

I’d like to introduce you to Angela from The Coloured Bee. She joined Chromatical Club on the 20th of February 2020 and far out she’s been one of my favourite people to watch grow.

Angela takes ACTION!! She asks questions, she watches the videos, and she goes head first into using her new knowledge or suggestions and makes kick-ass changes straight away. And because of this… she sees awesome results.

I was SO stoked she wanted to be one of my case studies! I hope you enjoy reading her experience.

Why did you join Chromatical Club?

I joined the club because I saw questions being answered by Trish.

She was answering everyones questions, and thoroughly. Not just answering with a tiny bit of information to leave you hanging to then make you pay for more information. She gives you all the tools you need to get your question/problem sorted.

She shares other peoples questions and answers from the past, links Q&A or info chats she's done. And the way she answers the questions really give you that light bulb moment. It triggers something that pushes you to actually do it and do it right.

I also joined because there were so many similar businesses, all creatives and it just felt like the right place to be. But mostly Trish understands the creative businesses.

What did you hope to achieve from joining?

Just more information on how to work my business. What it was about, really understand what I am doing and how to keep doing it and push it forwards.

And just to have a supportive network for questions, information and meeting like minded people.

What were the biggest challenges you hoped the club could help with?

Instagram. Understanding it, how to work it how to get my head in the right space for it.

I have done a few Instagram audits and workshops. And none of them have helped me understand what I am doing.

Being in the club has done that.

Also the ebooks are fantastic, and are such good value for what they are.

What has been your prior experience in marketing?

I came from another group call The Social Method Society.

At first I quite liked it, I was ready to absorb all the information, but it didn't really last long, I started to feel really lost after a few months, I felt like I was not developing with my business, I still had no idea what I was meant to do, I didn't fell really supported and I struggled to get answers to my questions.

I also felt like it wasn't quite suited to my business. Lots of the things they had to 'do' for your business didn't or I couldn't apply it to mine, but when I asked about this I was given vague answers of just not thinking about it in the right way, or needed to change my mindset. Which didn't really help at all.

I left the group thinking I would just try and figure this all out myself, and then Chromatical Club popped up.

I wasn't really ready to jump from one group to another, I felt like I needed a break, but when Trish said I had a one week free pass to see how I liked the group. No pressure to join. After 2 days of being in that free pass I signed up.

How has Chromatical Club helped you?

Specifically I think it helps because we are all in similar businesses that we all go through the same things. So seeing others write the same questions and see them go through the same things really help.

But also all the Q&A's and chats and information Trish does is unbelievably relevant, it's easy to apply it to my business.

So specifically I think it's very well supported. I think it's hard to not find answers to questions.

I'm probably still yet to achieve some things, but I think it's definitely helping me to achieve my understanding of what I want for my business and how to think about it.

Has the club helped you more than you expected?

It has. Because Trish makes things so easy to understand and apply to my business, I instantly saw results with myself and my confidence and with my Instagram and how I think about posting and writing and taking photos.

What results have you achieved since joining the club?

I posted a question saying I felt like I didn't have a voice.

I didn't know how to talk to my followers, that I was stuck with posting on instagram because I felt boring and no one wanted to engage.

Trish just gave me her wonderful words of wisdom and I had my lightbulb moment and my posts after that went so so well, I had crazy good engagement, my sales for that next collection went beyond what I expected.

And even though I feel like I'm in a bit of a slump again with my posts now, I know that I just need to go reread some of her answers and reread some ebooks and that little light will pop back up again.

Trish doesn't get you to write a certain way, she makes your natural voice come through which is one of the things I felt I had great results in. She doesn't tell you how to write your posts so that you sound like everyone else in the group.. I think that's been my best result. In just having my true self come out in my business.

This is my first post where I did a behind the scene video that you encourage everyone to do. And it went off!

This is my first post where I did a behind the scene video that you encourage everyone to do. And it went off!

Do you think you'd be where you are now without the club?

Probably not. I don’t think anyone else gives the sort of information out like Trish does.

I think without the support and information from the club and Trish I would probably either still be guessing about what to do, or I'd be in another group feeling just as stuck as the first one.

I don't think this is the kind of information and support you can find on your own either.

How would you put a value on what the club has done for you and your business?

I think the value is endless.

I think if I were to leave the club now (but why would I?!) I would still leave with value and some amount of guidance for my business. I don't think you can compare to other marketing options.

This club is different in so many ways.

I think her club is genuine and there's no gimmicks, theres no, 'you've come this far in the club now pay for more' stuff.

The ebooks are amazing and really explain things simply. Not saying they are simply written but just done in such a well written way that really has you understanding what it's all about and actually getting the answers you were looking for.

Trish is a great teacher and doesn't fluff around with silly catch slogans and one liners that make you think you're supported but actually aren't. She is really genuine and really loves her business and that shows.

I think the price is great. I've paid more for less, I think we get far more than the price.

The only annoying things is that it exchanges into USD, but I understand why it's like that. I think when you are a small business and starting out it's really hard invest in your business if you don't have the monthly value for some of the groups out there.

I think this is the right price to let people try it out for a month and not lose too much, but then when they see how much value is in it, it's worth investing in.

What part of the club has surprised you the most?

I think the thing that has surprised me the most is, again, how Trish is there for everyone and their questions. The amount of information she gives and the total amount of support and genuine advice that is given.

I love how there are different things to think about every week, the challenges (even though I'm yet to do one.eeep) Theres always something, I think which is great.

It's not an over priced chat group. It's not just a heap of blogs or written info to read up on.

Who would you recommend the club to?

Everyone!

I know lots of ladies in the creative world and when they ask me questions about instagram and about business I always end up referring this club to them.

I know a few ladies that are waiting for the door to open.

What do you love about Chromatical Club?

  • I love everything about it.

  • I love that Trish answers questions herself and really answers them and give us so much guidance and help.

  • I love that the group is filled with like minded and similar businesses.

  • I love that it's not done via a facebook page. I find that really hard to navigate, and really I don't like facebook, so groups that are paid groups that communicate via a facebook page really bothers me. This group and what platform that it's in makes it really easy to see everyones questions and to go back and search for information.

  • Other things I love about the group is how Trish just seems to know what to give information or talks on with the right things at the right time. Her knowledge is amazing and how she delivers it really makes it easy to understand and get the juices flowing. But the best part about the group is Trish herself. She's amazing and lovely and I feel really comfortable asking questions. And she is so supportive of everyone in the club. You definitely get your moneys worth (not that it's even about that) but I've not felt it has been a waste at all.

Lastly, can you tell us a little more about your businesses and where we can find you online?

I'm Ange, I am the person behind The Coloured Bee, which is all about handmade polymer clay earrings, that are thoughtfully designed by things that inspire me in my life. I use lots of beautiful colours and floral designs.

I started this business a bit over a year ago, after I decided to close my children's clothing business, because I felt like I couldn't get creative enough with kids clothes.

I actually had an earring business years and years ago (think when eBay was popular to sell on) and that has always been one of my favourite things to make as the amount of things you can create and design is never ending.

I get inspired by lots of things in my life, from tv shows, fabrics, nature and random conversations. Whatever triggers an idea with me. This is why I say my designs are thoughtfully made, because I spend lots of time in that process, thinking, drawing and planning it out. So when you wear my earrings, you aren't wearing something that took 10 minutes to make, you wear a little piece of my soul and eclectic brain!
